Anil Divan founded the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with his other followers, PIL was the Non-governmental organisation that stays over the litigation on the matters of public interest. Other founders of PIL, all were the senior advocates, Shanti Bhushan, Fali Sam Nariman, Colin Gonsalves and Rajinder Sacher. The founder of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) was the first president of the Association of India.
In 2004, he assigned as a member of the committee of the International Association on Water Resources Law. Later, in the year 2009, he became the associate President of the Bar Association of India and he argued for a ‘pro-Bono based cases in the supreme court in India in respect of many Public Interest Litigations, involve high-level corruption. Later, he has been appointed to help in solving the Cauvery Water Disputes by the Indian Government.
In the year 2005, in February, Divan and Prashant Bhushan, both were directing for the Centre for Public interest litigation (CPIL) looking to suppress of the 2003 CVC Act, that includes the CBI to get permission from the Union Government before enlisting the case of corruption in the opposition of senior administrators. Prashant queried that the act destroyed the basic privileges of the citizens and was responded to the run of law.
Recently, Anil B. Divan had been selected by the Supreme Court to direct the arrangement of BCCI executives, and in the hearing in 2015, he made convincing key entries in the National judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC). In addition, he was the co-petitioner with senior adviser Ram Jethmalani in the disputable PIL, that has challenged to many governments to take an action about the black money reserved by Indians abroad.
