Arun Govil was born on 12-01-1958 in Meerut in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He is an Indian Film Actor, Film Producer, Film Director & Television Actor. He is best known for his famous role of "Ram (Lord Rama)" in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan. He also is known for his work in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Odia, Kannada, Telugu and Bengali films.

Who can forget the famous adaptation of Ramayan on our favorite DD Channel in the early days? The massive sets, the glorious openings and the intensely real performances by some of the actors who were later known as their character names rather than the original one. Even today, many of us know Arun Govil as the Ram who was in Ramayan. Not only that single TV series but the versatile Arun has also performed in many Hindi, Bhojpuri and Brij Basha movies.

Arun was born in the religious land of India Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. After completing his schooling and getting admission in the Meerut University he started acting in dramas and plays later. This led to his exposure value to a great extent and he went to Mumbai to start a business when he was only 17. His father's dream for him to become a government employee like himself, shattered as he had plans that were bigger than this.

On the bigger perspective, his idea of starting a business venture in the city he turned his head towards acting where Ramanand Sagar, a renowned name in those days, gave him a break as the famous Vikram in Vikram and Betal, the old Quora of those times! Impressed by the jubilant work he was then offered the famous role Ram in Ramayan. The role embarked an identity which made him Ram in real life. He spiritually started believing in Hinduism more and people regarded him as the ultimate Ram.

His first movie was Paheli in the year 1977 and went on to perform in various movies in different languages. But sooner or later his career came to an end as people never accepted him in a role other than Ram. He then launched his own production company and also launched a TV series Mashaal which he produced and acted in. He appeared in Comedy Nights With Kapil along with his co-stars Deepila Chikalia and Sunil Lahri from the epic series Ramayana in March 2020.
