Brijesh Pursuram Patel, an Indian Cricketer, Cricket coach and a dashing right-handed middle-order batsman and an outstanding fielder, who use to be placed mainly on cover and point, was born in Baroda to the family of cricketers. During the seventies, he was considered as one of larger than life cricketers who can with his presence, whether as a batsman or as a field can set fire on the ground. He was called as the “glamour boy” of the game at his peak. He completed his studies from Bishop Cotton Boys School, Bangalore and made his debut in the Ranji Trophy, in which he played against Andhra scoring 11 not out in 1969-70.
 
Brijesh Patel made his ODI debut through making a big appearance at Headingley Stadium, England in 1974, a 78-ball 82 with 8 fours and 2 sixes in India's first ever ODI. It remained the most elevated score by an Indian debutant in ODIs till Robin Uthappa, who scored 86 in 2006-07. It additionally remained Patel's only ODI fifty.
 
Overall, he has scored more than 11000 runs in first-class cricket including 37 hundred which is an outstanding record. For quite a while he held the two most critical batting records in the Ranji Trophy for making 7126 runs at an average of 57 including26 centuries. In his prime, he played a few of the most commanding knocks in the national competition and in the Duleep Trophy.
 
His suspect technique in pace bowling to some degree brought about the sudden completion of his test cricket journey. After resigning, he worked as a Test selector and then, later went into administration and was chosen as a secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.in his 10ODIs that he played for India, he scored 972 runs at an average of 29.45 from 21 Tests and 243 runs at an average of 30.37.
 
He runs a private cricket training institute in Bangalore called B.P.C.A. (Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy), so far attended by more than 300 young men.
