Chetan Bhagat was born on 22-04-1974 in New Delhi, India. He is an Indian Author, Screenwriter, Columnist, Novelist, Television Personality, Motivator & Film Producer who known for his work in few Bollywood films.

Chetan Bhagat is arguably one of the most famous and renowned young Indian authors whose penned down novels are pre-booked even before it enters the market. All his published novels have been the bestsellers since they have released. His novels have been adapted by noted Bollywood directors. Besides a great author, he is also recognized as a youth icon in India. With his humorous and vivid way of portraying stories, he has certainly motivated and developed reading habits in youths in this country.
 
Besides an author, he also writes columns for several leading newspapers in India. Through his columns, he touches upon the several national and development issues. He also addresses the political mess through his columns. His columns hold such significance that they have often become the debatable topics in Indian Parliament. He is also an inspiring speaker and has delivered several motivational and inspiring speeches at many corporate events, news channels and colleges in India.
 
He did his initial studies at the Army Public School in New Delhi. After which he cleared IIT entrance exams and enrolled at the IIT Delhi and obtained his Mechanical Engineering degree from there. After completing engineering he attended IIM-A (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad). He was one of their most outstanding students and so when he was awarded the "Best Outgoing Student" it wasn’t a surprise.
 
Chetan Bhagat’s first novel titled 'Five Point Someone' was released in 2004 and since then he has never looked back. His popularity has risen considerably thereafter. This book won him the Publisher's Recognition Award and Society Young Achiever's Award. The story was adopted by Raju Hirani in a film called ‘3 Idiots’. His latest book Half Girlfriend too was a great success and is also been adapted into a film with the same title. The film has stars like Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor and will be releasing soon. He himself is the co-producer of the film.

He fell in love with Anusha Bhagat while studying at IIM and the couple after a few hiccups got married in 1999. The couple is blessed with two sons named Shyam Bhagat and Ishaan Bhagat. He has a brother named Ketan Bhagat who is also a writer and author.
