Daniel Gillies Complete Bio & Career

Daniel Gillies is a New Zealand actor mostly known for his work in The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off show, The Originals. He played the role of Elijah Mikaelson on both the shows and got mostly positive feedback for his acting from the audience. The show was based on a paranormal theme and h3 played the character of one of the oldest vampires; originals. His best works include his 2012 film, Broken Kingdom. He wrote and directed the movie, which did averagely at the box office.
 
Born in Canada, Gillies and his family shifted their base back to New Zealand when he was just a 5-year-old boy. He was from a medical background, family, but he chose acting of his career as he thought himself to be good at acting only. Because of the lack of opportunities in New Zealand, he went to Australia, where he worked as a waiter and dishwasher for a couple of years. Afterwards, he shifted to Los Angeles, USA.
 
In the start of his career, he worked for a while with the Auckland Theatre Company and afterward he got a lead role in the famous television drama, Street Legal. Gillies was also among the cast of Bride & Prejudice and Spider-Man 2. He is also known for working with Canadian and American films simultaneously. He has also appeared doing a guest role in the television shows including Masters of Horror, NCIS, and True Blood. He has done his best work in 2013 released, The Vampire Diaries where he played the role of one of the most powerful Vampire, Elijah Mikaelson.
 
He also acted in Gurinder Chadda's Hollywood movie titled Bride and Prejudice as the role, Johnny Wickham, along with the actress and former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai.
