Deborah Kaye Allen also fondly known as “Debbie Allen” was born on 16th January 1950 in Houston, Texas, United States of America. She is a famous Hollywood Actress, Television Director, Producer, Writer, Theater Actress, Voice Artist, Dancer, and Choreographer.

Allen, highly respected and a veteran in the United States Television Industry is also an honorary member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Debbie has done it all, well almost. At the beginning of her career, she debuted with Broadway’s chorus of “Purlie”. Her musical “Raisin” even won a Tony Award. She made her Movie debut in 1980’s “Fame”.
 
Allen was the lead choreographer of “Fame” movie and the television series. She won a Golden Globe and Two Emmy Awards for the same. She is also best known for portrayal of Catherine Avery on the highly successful TV series “Grey’s Anatomy”.
 
Another feather in Allen’s hat is that of a singer, she released two solo albums in her career. Debbie even has been honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with a star. Allen married NBA player Norm Nixon and has three children with him. Her sister Phylicia Rashad, is also an Actress, Director, and Singer.
