Currently, she is working as the University Professor of the reputed Columbia University. Here, she is actively participating as the founding member of the Comparative literature and Society. In fact, she is well recognized for her essay titled as Can the Subaltern Speak? Additionally, she is popular for translating and introducing De La grammatologie of Jacques Derrida. Later, in the year 2012, she received the honor named as Kyoto Prize in Arts and Philosophy for fighting against the intellectual colonialism regarding the globalised world. Ultimately, she had proved to be the best educator and critical theorist. 
 
Consequently, in the year 2013, she earned the Padma Shri Award for her highest contribution given to the country. In her popular essay, she has mostly stressed upon the Sati practice. In the year 1994, her literary work on Imaginary maps was released. This book was mainly about the 3 stories’ introduction by Mahasweta Devi. Her other popular literary works include Breast Stories, Old Woman, Song For Kali: A Cycle, Chotti Munda & His Arrow, and much more. However, her upcoming literary work includes Red Thread. She proclaimed and familiarized the term – strategic essentialism in order to help the improvement in the purpose of Social Action. Her popular academic works include Other Asias in 2008, Readings in 2014, The Spivak Reader in 1995, Death of Discipline in 2003, and much more.
