Short Biography

Jarnail Singh, born on 5th February 1962 is a retired Football Referee of the English football association. Singh is an Indian descent and started his refereeing career in early 1985. In 1999 he was appointed as the Football League assistant referee.

Jarnail Singh Complete Bio & Career

Post retirement he lives in Hounslow, Greater London and is working as in the Metropolitan Police for London. Jarnail Singh is said to be the first Sikh referee in the English Football history. He is also an ambassador for the Football Association. 
 
On 29th April 2004, he was selected to the middle for the Football Conference Playoff between Aldershot Town and Hereford United. Post this on August 10th 2004, he was refereeing a game between Bristol Rovers and Bury in the Football League Two at the Memorial Stadium. Here he sent off Colin Woodthorpe in the 65th minute to Bury. 
 
Before his retirement his final match was played on May 1st 2010, in which he refereed a match between Yeovil Town and Oldham Athletic at Huish Park Yeovil. He loves to spend time with his fans by signing autographs and clicking pictures with them. 
 
In October 2011, he has referred an international level football match of a friendly game between China and UAE. He was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement award in 2012 at the Asian Football Awards which was supported by the Football Team Association and an organization called ‘Kick it Out’ an anti-discrimination organization. 
 
Singh is married and has two lovely kids Sunny and Bhupsy Gill. They have also followed father’s footsteps and are qualified referees now.
