Jonny Bairstow Complete Bio & Career

Jonny Barristow is arguably one of the most feared opening batsmen of recent times. Since his father was a cricketer, he was introduced to the ‘Gentleman’s’ game from a very young age. After having some impressive performances at the age level cricket, he made his first-class debut at the 19 by playing for Yorkshire. After some consistent performances for a couple of years, he was inducted into England Lions squad.

From there, he was included in England's squad for the tour of Ireland. He, however, was not picked in the playing XI. He finally made his ODI debut against the visiting Indian team in the year 2011. He scored 41 of 21 and helped England win that match. The following year, he was included in England’s squad for the ICC World T20. He failed miserably and since then has been in and out of the side. He though has now become a regular member of the Test squad.

After Jason Roy and Alex Hales formed a formidable opening pair, he had to miss out on most of the matches as Jos Butler became England’s first choice wicketkeeper. After Roy was dropped due to poor form, Barristow came in and made sure that he becomes England’s first choice opener and has cemented his place. He explosive batting has won his sides a lot of matches. A hard-hitting opening batsman is always lucrative at the T20 leagues and thus he was picked by IPL franchise SRH in the IPL player auction 2019. Though his availability was limited to first three weeks, he made his impact in the very second game by scoring a blistering 100 against RCB. He will be England’s key player in the upcoming 2019 World Cup.
