Mallika Sarabhai Complete Bio & Career

Mallika Sarabhai is arguably among one of India’s most prolific choreographers and classical dancers. A versatile personality, she was also a noted political and social activist besides being an acclaimed actress. She was raised in an intellectually and artistically galvanising environment. Her mother Mriniali Sarabhai being a dancer, she too put on her dancing shoes from a very early age and by the time she entered her teens, she even started performing. She has also acted in various Hindi and Gujarati films and in an illustrious career that she has, has received a lot of acclaim for her acting and dancing skills.
 
She became famous worldwide after portraying the role of Draupadi in Peter Brook’s directed ‘The Mahabharata’ for five long years. Though, she made her debut in the French version of, she reprised the same role in English as well and performed in countries such as the USA, Scotland, France, Japan, and Australia.
 
As an actress, some of the most famous film roles that she played are ‘Himalay Se Ooncha’, ‘Mutthi Bhar Chawal’, ‘Mena Gurjari’, ‘Katha’ and ‘Maniyaro’. Besides acting in silver screen, she was also active on the small screen as well. 
 
Though she was trained in traditional Indian dance forms, with the changing time, she performed on contemporary dance forms as well. Through dance, she created dramas that advocated the changes required in society and dealt with social issues as well. She has choreographed entire evenings of work, short dance pieces, total performance work and dance-theatre works. 
 
In addition to a magnificent dancer and actress, she is also a renowned writer and has written columns on women empowerment, issues of human rights, law and order, caste, and corruption among various other social topics.

Together the couple was blessed with two children include a daughter named Anahita Sarabhai & a son named Revanta Sarabhai (Actor & Dancer). The marriage, though was short-lived and soon it ended in a divorce.
