Manuel Orantes Corral is a famous former Spanish tennis player. He played left-handed. He was trained in Barcelona.He was the continuer of Manuel Santana from Spain after his retirement. He turned to the professional game in 1968.He was active in Tennis from 1968 to 1983 and got retired in 1983. His excellence in his game allowed him to reach to the rank 2 in the World Tennis players ranking in 1973 in singles.His highest ranking in doubles was 160 in 1983.
 
He has total 36 singles titles and 36 Runner-up titles in singles. He defeated Manuel Santana in Madrid Championship in 1968 and started creating his career with a bang.He was able to make out to the finals for 35 times which includes finals for French Open in 1974, Cincinnati in 1973, Monte Carloin 1970, Canada in 1973 and 1974 etc.He was part of Spanish Davis Cup team for the period of  1967 – 1980. He created a record of 60-27 in Davis Cup.  He was also part of the winning Spanish team for the World Team Cup in 1978. He also had 22 doubles titles on his name in his career, including Hamburg (1975) and Canada (1974). He was also able to reach twenty doubles finals which include French Open (1978), Canada (1976) and Hamburg (1973). He beat defending champion for US Open men's singles title ‘Jimmy Connors’ in 1975 and came out as a winner. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the year 2012.
