Mila J Complete Bio & Career

Mila J's actual name is Jamila Akiko Aba Chilombo. She was born and grew up in Los Angeles. She was born to a musician father and hence she decided to become a musician from a very young age. She grew up in Los Angeles and was influenced by Janel Jackson the way she used to entertain the audience. She began her career by joining a dance group and was noticed by famous record producer Chris Stokes. He advised her to audition for Prince's song which she cleared and appeared in Prince's music video of song titled Diamonds and Pearls. Stokes decided to manage their career and advised her and her sister Miyoko to form an R&B band. They named their band Gyrl. The group included one more member named Paulette Maxwell and served as backup dancers. As backup dancers they appeared in music video of songs such as "Constantly", "I Don't Mind", and "Da Munchies" among others. They released their first single titled "Play Another Slow Jam" in the year 1995. After the song released Paulette Maxwell left the band. However the band got boosted after Glorika "Jeanae'" Briley and Tai-Amber Hoo joined Gyrl. They released a single titled "Get Your Groove On" which stayed on music charts for 14 weeks.
 
The band finally abandoned and she joined another group called Dame Four. After releasing a few singles this group too got split and she decided to take a break before finally beginning her solo career. She finally released her solo album Split Personality in the year 2006. The album however got shelved and to redefine her career by changing her appearance and name to Japallonia. After that, she released a mixtape titled DatPiff which recieved over 700k downloads. She finally released her next album titled Dopamine in the year 2017.
