Mrinal Sen was born on 14-05-1923 in Faridpur in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was an Indian Film Director & Documentary Filmmaker who best known for his work in Bengali Cinema.

Mrinal Sen Complete Bio & Career

Mr Sen So, having finished high school, he left his home to study in Calcutta. He studied physics at a renowned Scottish Church College and graduated from Calcutta University. He was part of the cultural wings of the Communist Party of India as a student. In 1955 he made his first feature film, Raat Bhore. The film was a massive disappointment. 
 
His next film, Neel Akasher Neechey, was recognized locally by him, his third film, Baishey Shravan (the day Rabindranath Tagore passed away), was the first film to expose him internationally. After making five more films, he made a film with a budget for shoelaces provided by the Government of India. This film, Bouvain Shoum, finally founded him as a major domestic and foreign filmmaker. Bhuvan Shome also started the movie movement " New Cinema " in India. He was awarded numerous international awards during this period. The audience will take part in the process of developing the plot in many of Sen's subsequent films. The director invites the audience and at the same time invites a joint process to form different and unique conclusions.
 
He was a jury member at the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival in 1982. He served as the judge at the 13th International Film Festival in Moscow in 1983. In 1997, Sen was appointed a judge of the 20th International Film Festival in Moscow. In the movie after him, he tried to get away from the structure of the story and worked with a very thin storyline. After a long gap of 8 years, at the age of 80, he made his latest movie, Aamaar Bhuvan, in 2002. In 2008, he was awarded the Taj Enlighten Tareef Award for his lifetime work in the film world. Sen was not welcomed to the tasks organized to charity the film personality hosted by the provincial government of Western Bengal. Again according to reports, his political point of view is thought to be the reason for his omission.
