Short Biography

Mubashir Hassan was born on 22nd January 1922 in Panipat, East Punjab, British India. He was a Pakistani Civil Engineer and a Politician. He was best known for his work in Hydraulics and founding the political from Pakistan People Party.

Mubashir Hassan Complete Bio & Career

After the Indo-Pak war in 1965, Hasan started his political philosophy in 1967. He published a political manifesto, “A Declaration of Unity of People". Looking at his growing popularity Zulfikar Ali Bhutto invited Hassan to West-Pakistan where at his residence; the new political front Pakistan Peoples Party was formed along with J.A. Rahim. He had a wide knowledge ranging from politics to science. He became the closest advisor of Bhutto. After the war of 1971, he held several prestigious posts, which includes the 9th Finance Minister of Pakistan from 1971-1974 and the 3rd Science Advisor to the Prime Minister Secretariat from 1974-1977. In 1977, he was arrested by Pakistani Military Police and spent his next 7 years in jail along with Bhutto. 
 
After release from jail in 1984, he became a professor at the UET Lahore’s Faculty of Engineering. In 1988 he was offered a Finance Minister post but he was denied and kept working as a science administrator by writing a column about hydraulics engineering. He also wrote content on economic issues and his articles were regularly published in The News International.
 
He was also a well-known author and has penned down some remarkable books such as National unity: what is to be done? and Birds of the Indus among several others.
