Nathan Lyon Complete Bio & Career

Australia was in search of a spinner after the retirement of Shane Warne who can play 100 tests for Australia. He was working as a ground staff team member in Adelaide and that is where he was discovered by South Australia's Big Bash coach, Darren Berry. On his advice, he earned his maiden Big Bash contract with the Red Backs. He was soon inducted in Australia’s A team. After some match-winning performances for Australia A, he was included in Australia’s squad that toured Sri Lanka in 2011. In his very first ball, he dismissed legendary Sri Lankan batsman Kumara Sangakkara on his very first ball. He ended the match with a 5-fer in his debut match. 
 
Since that tour, he has been a regular member of Australia’s test team. He though hasn’t enjoyed the same success in the shorter formats of the game. He made his ODI debut in 2012 but has played just 25 ODIs till early 2019. However, off late, he has shown some form in the shorter formats of the game and was thus given a berth in the ODI team that will travel to England for the World Cup. Legendary spinner Shane Warne has hailed him as one of the best off-spinner that Australia has ever produced. After being picked for the World Cup Squad and him being a senior player, he will have to come on song if Australia has to have any chance of winning the World Cup.
