Prakash Raj Complete Bio & Career

Prakash Raj was born and raised in Bangalore. His actual name is Prakash Rai but changed it to Raj on the advice of legendary film actor K. Balachander. He started his stint with acting while he was in college. He then finally started getting offers and made his acting debut through Kannada series such as Bisilu Kudure and Guddada Bhootha. After acting for a fair bit of time in the television series, he finally started getting offers from Kannada films as well.
 
He made his silver screen debut through Kannada film Mithileya Seetheyaru in the year 1988. Since the decade of the 1990s, he has become a consistent figure not just in Kannada films but also in other south Indian language films and Bollywood films as well. He started off playing supporting and cameo roles but later became one of the most sought after villain in the industry. He won Tamil Nadu State Award for his performance in the Tamil film Kalki and National Award for his film Iruvar in the year 1995. He once again won National Award in 1998 for his performance in Telugu film Anthapuram. After becoming one of the most sought after star of the south Indian film industry, he started getting offers from Bollywood as well. 
 
He made his debut in Bollywood films through Nana Patekar and Karisma Kapoor starrer film Shakti – The Power. The film was a disaster at the box-office and hence he had to wait until 2009 before establishing himself in Bollywood as well. In 2009, he played the lead villain role in Salman Khan starrer film Wanted. His performance in the film was highly appreciated. He then played the lead villain role in Ajay Devgan starrer film Singham. This was arguably his best performance thus far. Some of the other successful bollywood films of which he has been a part of are, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Heropanti, and Entertainment among others. He was recently seen in some Telugu and Kannada films and will be next seen in biopic of Jayalalitha which is scheduled to release in late 2020.
 
In addition to acting, he has also tried his hands at direction and production as well. He has released various south Indian language films and his produced Kannada film Puttakkana Highway won the National Award in the year 2012.

Together the couple has two daughters named Meghna Rai and Pooja Rai. The couple also had a son named Sidhu Rai who died on 20-03-2004. He then married choreographer Pony Verma on 24-08-2010. Together the couple has a son named Vedhanth.
