Riyan Parag was included in Assam U-16 squad at the age of 12 in 2013. Soo, he graduated from U-16 to U-19 team at the age of 13. He had a breakthrough season in 2016-17 and was then included in U-19 side that toured England for 2 unofficial tests. Having already proved his mettle in the shorter formats this time he showed that his skills are equally adept for the red ball game as well. 
 
After this it was only a matter of time that he was included in the U-19 World Cup squad that toured New Zealand. He played few handy knocks and was good with his wrist spin as well. Getting noticed from there, he finally grabbed himself an IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL player auction 2019. After missing  out on initial games, he made the opportunities count that came his way in the second half and was arguably the biggest positive for Royals in IPL 2019.
