She mostly appears in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films but has been a part of few Kannada, Malayalam, and English films. She has gained huge notability for her role in Bollywood film Awarapan opposite Emraan Hashmi. Some of her hit films include Tagore, Nuvve Nuvve, Gopala Gopala, Arjun, Chatrapathi, Drishyam, and several others.

Shriya Saran hails from Dehradun in Uttarakhand. She completed her school level education from DPS (Delhi Public School), Haridwar. She obtained her graduate degree from renowned Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi. She is an adept dancer, initially trained by her mother in Rajasthani folk dance and Kathak. After receiving formal training from her mother she learned Kathak from dance guru Shovana Narayan. She is fluently speaking in English, Hindi and can understand Telugu and Tamil languages as well.
 
Her first experience in acting came with a video shoot during her College days in Delhi. She began her acting career by debuting with the Telugu film Ishtam in 2001. The following year she acted in a film titled Santosham and that was her first commercially successful film. She made her Bollywood film debut with a significant role in film Tujhe Meri Kasam alongside Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D Souza in the year 2003. She then played a lead role in Hindi film Awarapan in 2007 Some of her noted Bollywood films include Mission Istaanbul, Gali Gali Chor Hai, Zila Ghaziabad, and Drishyam among others. She made her Hollywood debut with Ashok Amritraj’s The Other End of the Line in 2008. She was recently seen in Telugu films such as  N.T.R: Kathanayakudu, and Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu. She will be next seen in the Bollywood film Tadka.
 
She has also appeared in various advertisements such as Cocoa-Cola, Ponds, and Sarvana Stores among others. She also did a dance number in IPL 2010 opening ceremony. She is also associated with various charitable organizations.
