Tamilisai Soundararajan Complete Bio & Career
Tamilisai Soundararajan was born to a politician father and hence was intrested in politics from a very young age. She obtained her MBBS degree from Madras Medical College, Chennai. Post that, she went to Canada for for higher training in Sonology and FET therapy. Prior to her political career, she served as an assistant professor at Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai for five years.
Her family had political terms with Congress but she was inclined towards ideology of BJP and hence started her political career with BJP. She was made BJP unit head in Tamil Nadu and served in many capacities for promoting BJP in the state where BJP's existence was very slim. She contested in 2006 Tamil Nadu assembly elections for the first time in 2006 from Radhapuram constituency. She could hardly garner any votes but the party showed faith in her again in the 2011 Tamil Nadu state elections. She also unsuccessfully contested in 2009 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She managed to garner over 2lakh votes in 2019 general elctions but was still short of majority.
She has raised her voice for women empowerment and supported various women who came forward durng the #metoo movement. She also criticized Tamil film community to not coming out in support of Tamil singer Chinmayi Sripaada who came out in protest of poet and lyricist R. Vairamuthu for sexual harrasements that she faced because of him. In September 2019, she was made the governor of Telangana.
