Ustad Rashid Khan Complete Bio & Career

Ustad Rashid Khan, a well-known name in an Indian classical music Industry who sings in our own Hindustani music tradition form. He hails fromRampur-Sahaswan Guarana and was born in Badayun, UP. This Gharana was founded by his great grandson Ustad Inayat Hussain, nephew of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, and he has taken his primary training from his maternal granduncle Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan. The gayaki of this Gharana is similar to that of Gwalior Gharana.
 
He has given his first concert when he was just eleven and later got a chance to perform at ITC Concert in Delhi. He has mastered in Tarana, prefers khayal style, knows all parts of tonal variations, dynamics, and timbre adjustment. Legendary artist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi once said that Rashid Khan is the one who can be assured as a Vocalist artist for the future.
 
He is an innovator and has once created fusion music by combining Hindustani music with the genre of Light music. He has contributed his voice in Indian Cinema as well like in My Name is Khan for “Allah Hi Rahem”, Jab We Met for “Aaoge Jub Tum”.He was presented the very reputed Padma Shri Award and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006for his excellence.
