Lima had never thought of acting or modelling as her career but due to a friend’s insistence, she along with her had sent photos and soon was contacted by the sponsors. At the age of 15, she was the supermodel of Ford. She then received second place in Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest in 1996. She has also won many beauty pageants during her elementary school. Post this, Lima moved to New York and joined an Elite Model Management agency. Then on her modelling portfolio just kept expanding.
 
After this, she became a part of the campaign for the fashion line clothing of Anna Molinari. Then onwards she was offered for many bigger brand campaigns like Gasoline, Bebe, Anna Sui, XOXO, Victoria’s Secret, Keds, and BCBG. She is now the 5th highest paid model in the world. She has become the successful face of the fashion industry. She has also been on the cover pages of the most famous and running magazines like Vogue. She has her wax image in Madam Tussauds museum.
