She was born to Horace Logan White and Tess Curtis White. Her father was an executive in a lighting company and her mother was a homemaker. She was the only child of her parents and had no siblings. She first married Dick Barker on 09-07-1945 and divorced him the same year in Dec 1945. She then married Lane Allen on 08-11-1947 and this marriage too didn’t last long as the couple parted ways in 1949. She then married famous television host Allen Ludden on 14-06-1963 and remained married to him till his death in 1981. Allen Ludden died on 09-06-1981 from stomach cancer. She never gave birth to any child. She was the stepmother of three children (named Martha Ludden, Sarah Ludden & David Ludden) from Allen Ludden's first wife Margaret Frances McGloin Ludden. Margaret died on 30-10-1961 from cancer.
