The famous theatre director and actress, Catherine Elise “Cate” Blanchett, was born to June and Robert DeWitt Blanchett, Jr. She went to East Primary School for her primary education and for completing her secondary education, she went to Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School. She did her college education from Methodist Ladies’ College. She also attended University of Melbourne and got graduated in acting from National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
 
Cate Blanchett made her debut in the theatre with stage show Oleanna under Sydney Theatre Company. She also became a cast member in Electra. She gained fame and popularity. She had been given the award under the category of Best Newcomer Award for Kafka Dances and Best Actress for Oleanna. She continued to play many roles in theatre shows. She made her debut in the film industry with Paradise Road in a supporting role. Her first movie with leading role is Oscar and Lucinda. She was awarded an AFI Best Actress for her performance in Thank God He Met Lizzie.
 
She played many roles in the films for which she earned fame and acclaim wide popularity. Some of her award-winning works are Elizabeth for which she won Golden Globe and British Academy award. Her other works are The Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and much more.
