Cokie Roberts actual name is Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Boggs. She was known as a trailblazer for female journalists and a staple of the Washington D.C., political scene. She was the one who paved way for numerous female trying to pursue a career in journalism. She grew up in a family of politics as both her parents were serving congress. Her siblings too joined politics but she had other plans in her mind.

After completion of her political science from Wellesley College, she started off by covering politics as a journalist. She stated off by hosting WRC-TV program Meeting of the Minds. She then joined ABC news and co-anchored This Week with Sam Donaldson from 1996 to 2002 and continued contributing to the show as a congress analyst and a poitical commentator. In her illustrious career that lasted 5 decades, she was felicitated with various awards and was named one of American Women in Radio and Television’s 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting and honored as a “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress.

She won three Emmys and was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame. Besides journalism, she also wrote some of the best seller books such as Capital Dames: The Civil War and the Women of Washington and Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation among various others. She was truly a legend who has inspired a lot of young women in America to take up journalism.
