Courtney Thorne-Smith is a popular American actress. Since her parents were separated when she was 7 years old, she used to stay with both of them at a different time at different places. She went to Menlo-Atherton High School and completed her graduation from Tamalpais High School. She was working with  Ensemble Theater Company during her schooling.
 
She started her film career with movie 'Lucas' which was a feature drama in 1986. Welcome to 18, Summer School, Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise and Side Out are few of her films.In the mid-1980s, she started working in TV series 'Growing Pains' and ' Fast Times'. The Thanksgiving Promise, Infidelity is her TV made movies. She worked on sitcom 'Day by Day'. She was also featured in ' L.A. Law'. Her role as Alison Parker on TV in 'Melrose Place' was praised. She continued her work in 'Beauty's Revenge ' and ' Ally McBeal'.
 
She wrote a novel 'Outside In' which was published by  Broadway Books in 2007 in New York. She was nominated in the category of  Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in any Comedy Series and won the 'Screen Actors Guild' award for the same. She had also played the voice role in movies Whisper of the Heart and Batman: New Times. She had appeared in few episodes on TV series Anything But Love, Grapevine, Partners, Norm, Duckman: Private Dick/Family and Man Fresh Off The Boat.

Thorne-Smith was born to a computer market researcher Walter Smith and a therapist Lora Thorne.An advertising executive named 'Jennifer' is her elder sister.She married Andrew Conrad (geneticist ) in 2000 but the couple separated in 2001.She again married Roger Fishman, who was the book author for the book 'What I Know' and also the president of the marketing firm the Zizo Group.The couple has one child 'Jacob Emerson Fishman'.
