In the year 2009, Dalia Grybauskaite became the president of Lithuania and then was again elected in the year 2014. As a matter of fact, she is regarded as the first female president of the country. Additionally, it was the first time when the same person got elected again for the second term. In her political career, she has also worked as a minister of many departments such as Foreign Affairs, Finance minister, and as the European Commissioner for the department of financial programming and the Budget. In the interview conducted by the Focus – A German news magazine, she proclaimed that Hitler and Stalin used nationality in order to conquer the territory. Later, she added that the Russia is also identified by the violence, aggressiveness, and the willingness to get across the boundaries.
 
After receiving the title as the President, she visited the abroad countries such as Latvia and Sweden for the first time. Later, she also visited the state – Norway. In the year 2013, she took the major decision to boycott the Sochi Winter Olympics along with many other western leaders who include Joachim Gauck – German President, Francois Hollande – French President, and Barack Obama – United States President. As a whole, she has earned many awards which mainly include Order of the republic in the year 2015, Order of the Seraphim in the year 2015, Order of the Falcon in the year 2011, and much more.
