Danny Trejo Complete Bio & Career

As a child Trejo became a criminal and drug addict, he spent almost 11 years in jail. While he was serving in San Quentin, he became a champion of the welterweight and lightweight boxing titles. He was mostly in prison for drug offenses and armed robbery. He was sent for a 12 steps rehab program and that stint completely changed him as a person and his life as well.
 
He was asked to speak at the Cocaine Anonymous meeting in the year 1985. There, he met a man who subsequently called him to support him. Trejo without hesitating went on to help him and thus landed on the sets of the film called Runaway Train in the year 1985. His tough looks and appearance and tattooed body earned him a petty role of convict extra. On the sets, he met his friend from San Quentin who was now a screenwriter.
 
He remembered that Trejo is a natural boxer; he offered him a handsome pay of $320 to train the actors for a boxing sequence in the film. It was the director Andrey Konchalovskiy who spotted him while he was training actor Eric Roberts and he decided to cast him as Eric’s opponent in the film. Rest is just a history as he has appeared in over 100 films mostly as a villain or a tough criminal. Off-screen, Trejo is the owner of several restaurants in the US.
