The independent filmmaker, Debra has bagged various prominent awards throughout her career till now such as Best Shot for Snake Feed, The Dramatic Directing Award for Down to the Bone, Grand Jury Prize for Drams, and Prix du Jury for Winter’s Bone.
 
In the year 1997, she directed the short movie – Snake Feed which gave her utter prominence among the crowd. This movie was motivated b the real-life incidents and mainly about how the people struggle to overcome drug addiction. As a matter of fact, she directed another movie – Down to the Bone with the same theme which was her debut featured movie. Nextly, the movie Winter’s bone helped her to get recognized as the best filmmaker of the new generation. The story – screenplay for this movie was adapted from the novel “Winter’s Bone” written by Daniel Woodrell. The leading artists of this movie include John Hawkes and Jennifer Lawrence who bagged the Grand Jury Prize for their brilliant performance at Sundance Film Festival 2010.
 
However, Debra has plans to direct a Pilot to be cast on HBO television channel namely American High Life. This show is all about family drama. Also, she is working on the movie adaption of Rule of the Bone resourced from the novel written by Russell Banks. As a whole, the movies of Debra contain the stories dealing with the willpower and personal motivation in life.
