Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters Complete Bio & Career

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is a beauty pageant titleholder and a South African model. She won the Miss South Africa 2017 and later crowned as Miss Universe 2017.She is the 2nd lady to win the Miss Universe title from South Africa. Previously Margaret Gardiner won it for South Africa in 1978.
 
She has one half-sister who is disabled and was born with the cerebellum. She finds significant motivation from her. She has completed her business management degree from North-West University. She can fluently speak both Afrikaans and English language.
 
She started the journey of her pageantry career with Miss South Africa 2017 contest. She represented Western Cape in the contest and was crowned as a winner of the contest. Later she received the right of representing her country in both Miss Universe 2017 and Miss World 2017.Since the dates of both of these competitions were overlapping, she was chosen to be part of Miss Universe 2017 competition instead of Miss World 2017.She turned out to be a winner of the competition and was crowned Miss universe 2017 by previous year crown holder Iris Mittenaere.
 
She revealed her thoughts on future work and expressed her wish to start helping women and conduct the self-defense workshops for as many women as she can. The reason behind this thought was the last incidence happened to her after winning Miss South Africa title. She was carjacked. Though she gave the keys to the carjackers, they forced her into the car. But she used her skills and was able to rescue herself by punching in the throats of the attacker. The incident happened at Hyde Park.
 
She enjoys preparing handmade cards and loves scrapbooking. She enjoys hiking, trail runs, and road races. She was selected as George City Council‘s Deputy Junior Mayor when she was in 11th grade. She has 4 parents as both of her parents are remarried.
