Dev Patel Complete Bio & Career

Dev Patel was born to Gujarati parents in London. He was raised in London. His mother took him to an audition for a role in the teen drama television series called Skins. He got selected for the role of Anwar Kharral and worked on the show for 2 seasons.  He then made his film debut with Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire.
 
The way he portrayed the role of Jamal Malik was simply outstanding. His performance as an Indian Muslim boy born in slums won him a lot of appreciation. He also won numerous awards at various award functions. His love interest in the film was played by Frieda Pinto. The two were romantically linked after the film.
 
After a grand debut that he had, expectations were sky high for him and he didn’t disappoint. His next project The Last Airbender which was adapted from the famous animated series titled Avatar: The Last Airbender was a commercial success but the film received negative reviews from critics. Though, some of the critics considered his performance to be the only positive in the movie. He came back with a bang in his next film titled The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was a huge hit.
 
In 2016, he acted in  Saroo Brierley’s  Lion. He was cast alongside Rooney Mara and Nicole Kidman in this film. The film received a lot of appreciation and also won him a BAFTA award for the best supporting actor. His upcoming film is the thriller film Hotel Mumbai.
