Dolly Thakore Complete Bio & Career

Dolly Thakore is a well-known casting director and actress of Doordarshan of the 1980s. She is still remembered as a host, as a star anchor, and as a newsreader. She was the one who announced the infamous defeat of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the 1977 general elections. She worked for Doordarshan Delhi for several years and has hosted various shows and interviewed the top stars of Bollywood then.
 
She trained in presenting Radio Programs and Television from the famous BBC, London. After her training, she returned back and started her career as the television host and top newscasters in Indian television. She hosted shows and in her talk shows she has interviewed several VIPs both Indian and International stars. She rose to prominence after she started hosting the prime news at 8 pm for Mumbai Doordarshan. She started her film safari by working as a unit publicist and a casting director in the biographical film titled Gandhi released in 1982.
 
She has also tried her hands at acting and made a brief appearance in the much acclaimed Bollywood film Page 3. In addition to that, she is a noted theatre personality and in her illustrious career has worked with noted theatre directors.
 
She also writes reviews of films and plays in all leading magazines and newspapers.

She married well-known stage producer and actor, Alyque Padamsee. The couple had a son named Quasar Thakore Padamsee. The couple has now parted ways.
