Domhnall Gleeson went to Malahide Community School. He did his graduation from Dublin Institute of Technology in the field of Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts. After completing his graduation, he began to write and direct the film and applied his writing and directing skills for the stage as well. He belongs to Irish nationality.
He made his debut in Miniseries Rebel Heart, a British television series in 2001. Then he acted in a movie Studs along with his father. He appeared in many short films such as Six Shooter, Boy Eats Girl. He appeared on a TV series The Last Furlong. His short film Six shooters grabbed him an academy award.
He had also acted as voice artist wherein he had given his voice for Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens which is a video game in the year 2016. His movie work includes Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows, Sensation, Never Let Me Go, True Grit, Be Right Back, Anna Karenina, About Time, Frank, Ex Machina, Brooklyn, The Revenant. His recent films for 2017 are American Made, mother! A Futile and Stupid Gesture, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Crashpad.
He garnered many awards such as Shooting Stars award in Berlin International Film Festival, Best Actor in a lead role in television at Irish film and television awards, the Breakthrough performer at Hamptons International Film Festival, Best supporting actor film and Best actor in supporting role – film at Irish film and television awards.
