Federico Higuain was born and raised in Buenos Aires. He was born to a footballer and hence decided to become a football player from a very early age. At the age of 19, he was roped in by Argentine football club River Plate and he played for them from 2003 to 2007. However, he was traded to Nueva Chicago on loan in 2005 and played for them till 2007. He played 71 matches for them and scored 26 goals. In 2007, he was signed by Turkish football club Be?ikta? J.K. for a whopping 1.65 million for a 3 year deal but his stay in Istanbul didn't last long and he was loaned to Mexico's club Club America in 2008.
He came to limelight after he got inked by the American professional soccer club Columbus Crew SC in the year 2012. He was signed for a club record fee of $650, 000. He played for them from 2012 to 2019 and played a record 193 matches and scored 55 goals for them. His style of play was his creativity on the ball. He wasn't a prolific goal scorer but was good in assisting and was capable of playing both as a mid-fielder and forward.
