Fiona Shaw is an actress and director from Ireland. She is an Alma Mater of University College Cork and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
 
Initially, she actively participated in theatrical acts. She appeared in plays like ‘As You Like It’, ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’, ‘Taming of the Shrew’, ‘The New Inn’ and ‘Machinal’. In her stage career, she has extensively worked at the National Theater and the Royal Shakespeare Company.  She bagged the Laurence Oliver Award for Best Actress for the role of Young Woman in ‘Machinal’. Her performance in the one-person show of ‘The Waste Land’ at the New York Liberty Theater won her the ‘Outstanding One-Person Show Award’ at the Drama Desk Awards. She has also played the male lead role in the play ‘Richard II’. She was closely associated with Deborah Warner in ventures like ‘My Left Foot’, ‘Persuasion’, ‘The Avengers’, and ‘Jane Eyre’.
 
She is best recognised for her role as Petunia Dursley, Harry Potter’s aunt in five of the Harry Potter films. She was also cast in the 2006 French-American crime thriller film ‘Black Dahlia’. She also played the lead role in ‘Mother Courage and Her Children’ in 2009. Her partnership with Warner has been described as the most richly creative partnerships in the history of theatre productions. She also appeared alongside Alan Rickman in ‘John Gabriel Borkman’. She portrayed the role of Marnie Stonebrook in the American dark fantasy horror TV series titled, ‘True Blood’.
 
She was awarded the United Solo Special Award at the World’s Largest solo theatre festival ‘United Solo’ for her role in ‘The Testament of Mary’. She received the Honorary CBE in 2001.
