Francois was born to an active Businessman Francois Pinault (founder of FHP) and Louise Gautier. In 1985, he finished his graduation from HEC school of Management along with studying New Technology and Fashion in Military service in Los Angeles.
 
Kering was earlier known as PPR Company where he started his career in the year 1987. The next year he became the manager of the purchase department. Gradually he climbed up all the steps to be the Chairman of Kering in the year 2005. Francois was even President of German Sports brand Puma in the executive committee. He then led Kering’s luxury goods section. He is the owner of French football Club, State Rennais. Francois is not only an intellectual Businessman but he is a great Philanthropist too.
 
Francois was married to Dorothee Lepere and had two children before getting separated in 2004. Later he dated model Linda Evangelista and had children with her but soon ended the relationship. In 2006, he dated actress and model Salma Hayek whom he married in 2009 and have a daughter with her.
