Hazari Prasad Dwivedi born on 19th August 1907, was one of the most famous essayists, novelists, and an exponent of Hindi literature.

Hazari Prasad Dwivedi is known for the various essays and novels that he has gifted to Hindi literature. A distinguished learned person, he was also one of the foremost critics that Hindi literature has ever produced.
 
After he was done with his schooling, he passed the Shastri examination from the Sanskrit University. In the year 1930, Hazari Prasad Dwivedi was designated as a teacher of the Hindi department at Santiniketan. His alliance with the University town Shantiniketan continued for the next 20 years till 1950.
'Punarnava', 'Banbhatta Ki Atmakatha', 'Anamdas Ka Potha' and 'Charuchandra Lekh' are some of the most noted works by Hazari Prasad Dwivedi in this classification. He was also a brilliant essayist and gave to the Hindi language some marvelous stack of essays. Nakhoon Kyon Barhte Hain' 'Kutaj', and 'Ashok Ke Phool' are a few memorable essays written by Hazari Prasad Dwivedi. His books have also been very important for the betterment of the Hindi language. A large number of copies of his writings were donated by his children to the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
 
For his contribution to Hindi Literature, he was conferred Padma Bhushan by the Govt of India in the year 1957.
