Jack was introduced to golf by his father who was on a rehab for a broken ankle, Nicklaus proved a genius in the sport, scoring a 51 over nine holes at the age of 10 at Scioto Country Club.
He turned pro in 1961 and rapidly emerged as one of the most superior players on the PGA Tour. He had the potential to smash booming drives from the tee but also had the skills as an impressive touch on the green and apparently incomprehensible nerves. Nicklaus won his first U.S. Open title a year after his debut in 1962 and snatched his first Masters Tournament and PGA Championship in 1963. In 1966, he claimed the only major title missing from his distinct collection by winning the British Open. Nicklaus bettered Bobby Jones's record of 10 major titles in 1973. He was inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974,
Along with a distinguished sportsperson, Nicklaus is also a successful businessman and started several business ventures while still competing as an active player, notably taking a significant interest in the modeling and design of golf courses. He established a firm, Nicklaus Design, and his firm has fostered hundreds of courses in more than 35 countries. He has also launched apparel and wine companies. He has also authored few books.
He is married to Barbara Bash since 1960 and together the couple has founded the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation.
