James Michael Tyler was an American actor. He is born in Mississippi. He was raised in the United States. His father Tyler, Dewitt Eugene is a retired United States Air Force Captain and his mother Pullen, Mary Sue was a homemaker. He moved to Anderson, South Carolina to live with his sister and attended T. L. Hanna High School. He completed his studies at Clemson University and graduated with a degree in Geology. He gained his Masters in Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Georgia. He joined the Clemson Players and found a love of theatre and started acting there. Later he receives an MFA in Acting from the University of Georgia.
He did a brief work stint selling cars in Olympia, WA. Then, he moved to Los Angeles, CA. In Hollywood, he worked in both the service and entertainment industries. He performed various works as a Bar-back at the Palace, sold keyboards at Guitar Center, and was a barista and the Bourgeois Pig. He is best known for his role as Gunther in Friends displayed on NBC sitcom.
In 1988, he became an assistant film editor and production assistant. He produced Fat Man and Little Boy. He led to a ten-year career with appearances in 148 of Friends' 236 episodes from 1994-2004. In 2009, he officially opened the temporary Central Perk pop-up replica in London of Friends' on its 15th anniversary. In 2014, made appearances at a Central Perk replica in SoHo on Friends' 20th-anniversary .he appeared in the BBC/Showtime sitcom episodes Series 2 and 6.
