Jibanananda Das was born on 17-02-1899 in the state of Barisal, Bangladesh. He was an Indian Poet, Writer, Novelist & Essayist.
Das was not recognised during his days but currently, he is believed to be the Premier post of Post Tagore era in India. He completed his matriculation in the year 1915 obtaining first class grade in it. After this, he moved to Kolkata to pursue his higher education from the University of Calcutta. He completed his MA degree in the year 1921 and began his teaching profession. He joined City College in Calcutta as an English tutor. It was in the year 1925 when Jibanananda wrote his first poem for Deshbondhu Chittaranjan Das. His poem was published in Bangabani Magazine.
In 1927, his collection of poems was published named Jhara Palok. During these days he mostly received serious critics from his seniors. One of his senior even wrote several aggressive comments about his poetry which was published in Magazine named The Saturday Letter. He moved to Delhi in the year 1929 as a tutor in Ramjas College. His series of Poem called Rupasi Bangla was discovered a year after Jibanananda Das died. His work and writing are translated to the English language with enormous enthusiasm.
Jibanananda Das died on 22nd October 1954. It was after 8 days when he was hit by a tram while das was crossing the road in Calcutta.

He was born to a teacher father Satyananda Das and a poet mother Kusumkumari Das. He had a younger brother named Ashokananda Das and a younger sister named Sucharita Das. He was married to Labanyaprabhai Das in the year 1930. They had a daughter named Manjusree Das and a son named Samarananda Das. He was in a relationship with Shovona in young age. Chandranath was his uncle.
