John Hurt Complete Bio & Career
John Hurt made his film debut in 1962 with the film The Wild and the Willing. He enjoyed wider film success with his portrayal of the two-faced Richard Rich in A Man For All Seasons. He then went on to obtain international fame with Midnight Express. His role in the film accumulated Hurt an Academy Award nomination as well.
He was at the peak of his career during the late 1970s and 80s, during which he starred in several blockbuster films and the most noted among them were the sci-fi thriller Alien, comedy spoof Spaceballs and The Elephant Man.
On the television screen, Hurt stumped audiences with his character of British gay icon Quentin Crisp in the alteration of Crisp's memoir, The Naked Civil Servant in the year 1975.
In 2012, the British Academy of Television & Film Arts conferred Hurt with a lifetime achievement award for his recognition to British film industry. Although he is well known for his movie appearances, Hurt has also maintained a vibrant television presence and stage career.
On personal front Hurt married four times. He has two sons, Nicholas Dalton Hurt and Alexander John Vincent Hurt, from his third marriage with Joan Dalton.
