Lars Vilks was born on 20-06-1946 in Helsingborg, Skane, Sweden. He was a Swedish Visual Artist, Sculptor, Blogger & Activist who was famously known for a controversy surrounding his drawing of Muhammad.

Lars Vilks Complete Bio & Career

Lars Vilks is a Swedish virtual artist who raised and completed his primary education at Helsingborg, Sweden. In 1987, he attended Lund University where he achieved doctoral degree in art history stream. After finishing studies, in 1987, Lars started work as a professor at Oslo National Academy of the Arts till 1997. Then, the artist jumped to his new job as a art theory professor at Bergen National Academy of the Arts from 1997 until 2003. After that, Mr. Vilks became a advocate of the institutional theory of art. ,

In 1970, he started painting as a hobby but as he was a self learner visual artist therefore later on, he became a professional painter. Additionally, in 1984, he had a keen interest in sculpture making and made Nimis. He was a biggest fan of Jean-François Lyotard, a French art philosopher. Due to his favorite artists inspiration, he learnt postmodernism art form in 1980 and created Swedish art scenes and became the member of movements in Sweden. The artist to lost himself in the art forms thus, he went to Vikingsberg, Helsingborg and presented his own car as a art at fall exhibition in Skånes konstförening.

Furthermore, he made two famous sculptures Ars and Nimis with concrete, wooden sticks and rock at Kullaberg garden in Höganäs, Skåne. Later on, he turned this place into a country and gave name, Ladonia. Due to law concerning, Nimis was purchased by Joseph Beuys. He created many other sculptures and statues like Omfalos. 

Apart from this, he always became the part of many controversies due to his unique creations like Nimis, Landonien and Arx which are situated in the nature reserve Kullaberg. As his creations get notable surveillancein Sweden media and this place is become a renowned visitor attraction. He was always bambored by conflicts because he tried to proved himself as a depictions of religion.

In 2007, Lars was hit by an international controversy in which he designed three drawings. These were held in an art exhibition at Tällerud. In one of these three drawings, he represented the drawing of Muhammad as a dog. After this, his invitation was cancelled to come in this exhibition and his drawings was banned to show in any other exhibition. After a long time, Örebro-based regional newspaper published his work that was condemned by Muslim religion people in Sweden, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt and so forth.
