Leela Majumdar Complete Bio & Career

The Bengali Writer, Leela Majumdar wrote her first book titled Boddi Nather Bari and published in the year 1939. Later, in the year 1948, she released her second most expected compilation named as Din Dupure which helped her to earn huge recognition from the public. After which, she started completely concentrating on Children’s Books since 1950. Majorly, she includes humor in her literary works along with the detective stories fantasies as well as ghost stories. Her autobiography titled as Pakdandi in which her childhood days in Shillong is brilliantly portrayed. Additionally, this book also gives information about her life incidents at Santiniketan and All India Radio. She proved to be a versatile writer by launching the cookbook for adults, Rabindranath Tagore biography, and the other adult novels. 
 
Most prominently, she took a step forward to give a lecture on Abanindranath Tagore and later made fabulous translations of all his artworks into English. Additionally, her other translation works include Gulliver’s Travels written by Jonathan Swift and The Old Man and the Sea written by Ernest Hemingway into the Bengali language. Her work – Holde Pakhir Palok was recognized and was given the State Award for the category of children’s literature. Her other awards include Rabindra Puraskar and Natak Akademi Award for the works Aar Konokhane and Bak Badh Pala. Additionally, she has won the lifetime achievement award – Bhubaneshwari Award, Suresh Smriti Puraskar, and much more.
