Lou Holtz Complete Bio & Career

Born on 6 January 1937, Louis Holtz is a football coach, Analyst, and player from America. He attended East Liverpool High School. He attained his higher education from kent state University. He commenced his career as the coach in 1960 as an assistant. He served as an assistant to various parties like South Carolina, William and Mary, and Connecticut. He also helped Ohio state Buckeyes, football team win the national championship in 1968.
 
He received offers of becoming the head coach from Tulane. Initially, he accepted the offer but denied later on. On 10 February 1976, he became the head coach of a team named, New York Jets but he resigned in a short period of 10 months only. Then he joined the team, Arkansas. In 1979, he became the leading candidate amidst who could replace Woody Hayes at Ohio state. He was then fired by Arkansas due to his political involvement.
 
In 1984, he collaborated with Minnesota. The team named, golden Gophers won 4 games under Holtz’s guidance. Then he joined Notre Dame. Holtz was widely known as a strict disciplinarian. In his coachings, he laid his focus on team effort. His last season with Notre Dame was the 1996 season and after that, he left. He went to serve as an assistant at the University of South Carolina. Holtz was also awarded the National Coach of the year award. Holtz announced his retirement on 18 November 2004. Besides this, he also has written books like The grass is greener and the offensive side of Lou Holtz.
