Matthew Morrison Complete Bio & Career

Matthew Morrison studied at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and at the Orange County High School of the Arts. He debuted in theatre in Broadway by participating in musicals Footloose and The Rocky Horror Show and then gets the role of Link Larkin in the musical Hairspray. In 1999 he made his debut on television participating in the episode Single is it beautiful? of the well-known television series Sex and the City. In 2005 he returned to the theatre participating in the musical The Light In The Piazza, where he played Fabrizio Nacarelli and for this role, he obtained nominations at Tony Awards and also at Drama Desk Awards.
 
In 2006, he joined the soap opera cast So Gira the World, as Adam Munson, but abruptly left the series for the overlapping of other engagements. In 2007 he received his second candidacy at the Drama Desk Award for his performance in the off-Broadway production 10 Million Miles. After playing the lead in the musical South Pacific, brought to the Lincoln Center Theater, Morrison faced a new television engagement, participating in the Fox television series Glee. Morrison played the Spanish teacher Will Schuester who would like to revive the Glee clubs, dance and singing school companies. For his work in Glee, he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Television Series.
 
In January 2010, he signed a recording contract with Mercury Records for the realization of his debut album. The album, released on May 10, 2011, is expected by the single Summer Rain and includes several illustrious collaborations; with Sting in Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot, with Elton John in Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters and Rocket Man's medley duet, with Gwyneth Paltrow in an Over the Rainbow cover. In 2012 he is the first artist to sign a contract with 222, the record company founded by Adam Levine, which will produce his second album.
