She completed her higher studies from Columbia College. Initially, she wanted to become a music journalist. In 2007, she launched her blog titled, McCain Blogette. She wrote the book titled, Dirty Sexy Politics. She also wrote a book on her father titled, My dad, John McCain in 2008.
 
In 2009, she started writing for The Daily Beast. She signed a contract with Hyperion in 2009. She supported Sex Education. She came on a news channel named, NPR News and did a show, Wait Wait Don’t Tell me. She not only participated but also won a prize. She condemned the Republican Party to have lost its way. She then wrote another book titled, America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to freedom. She became an analyst on MSNBC in 2011. Her show, raising McCain started in 2013. The show was aired on Pivot Cable. She along with Jacob Soboroff hosted the show named, TakePart Live. She signed a deal with Fox News in 2015. She is a liberal on social issues.
