The actress did her primary education from the local school of her hometown and moved to London where she completed graduation from the Royal Academy of Dramatic  Arts. She had a keen interest in acting. Therefore, De Havilland debuted her career as an actress with the film "A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Mr. Max Reinhardt and William Dieterle in 1934. It was an American fantasy and romantic movie. The theme of this film was based on the play of the famous writer "William Shakespears". She played the role of Hermia where she first time faced the camera, lights, screening etcetera. She learned here, how to showed her act in front of the camera.
 
Olivia was very beautiful and hardworking. Therefore, she continued to get movies and she became one of the best actresses in the Hollywood film industry. The actress gave several superhit films such as "To Each His Own" (1946), "The Snake Pit" (1948), "Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte" (1965) and "The Woman He Loved" (1988) and so forth. "The Woman He Loved" was her last movie in which she performed the role of Aunt Bessie Merryman. This movie was directed by Charles Jarrott.
