Paul Blackthorne landed in acting by doing some commercials in his motherland, England. His commercial for Virgin Atlantic made him immensely popular and after which he was featured in various radio commercials. 
 
Blackthorne's maiden film role was with the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan in 2001. For his role of Captain Andrew Russel, he had taken Hindi classes for 6 months. After which, he was cast in several American TV shows and films. He appeared with recurring roles infamous television series 24 and ER. His performance as Shane Healy in the series titled Lipstick Jungle garnered him widest of acclaims. After this series, he became regular the television circuit and is currently seen essaying the role of Quentin Lance in the famous series Arrow. He has been with the show since its inception in October 2012. 
 
After the success of Lagaan, he starred in Four Corners of Serbia. The film won multiple awards and his performance was also praised. Some others successful films in which he has worked are The Gold Lunch, Special, and his recent release Dark Ascension to name a few. 
 
In addition to acting, he has also tried his hands at the direction and made his directorial debut with the much-acclaimed film This American Journey in 2013. 
 
Besides an actor and a director, Blackthorne is a distinguished photographer as well.His exhibitions are held from New York to New Delhi. A large chunk of his income from these exhibitions goes to charity. A massive earthquake hit the place, where the shooting of Lagaan was done. To help the victims of the earthquake, he organized a special exhibition in London to raise funds.
