Renée Kathleen Zellweger hails from a small town named Katy in Texas. She completed her school level education from Katy High School and was gymnast, cheerleader and a speech team member during her school days. She was also a member of her school drama club and that is where she incorporated acting skills. 
 
Her father lost his job while she was in college and therefore, she took up a job as a cocktail waitress in Austin, Texas. It was during this time that she was spotted and started getting acting offers. She started off her career in an uncredited role in the film Dazed and Confused in the year 1993. She came to limelight after her performance in the film Reality bites in the year 1994. She played her first lead role in the film titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation in the year 1994. The film boomed at the box-office but she got noticed. She became a household name after her performance in the film Jerry Maguire in 1996. She was cast opposite legendary Tom Cruise in this film and the film was her first commercial success. 
 
She received international stardom through the British film Bridget Jones's Diary in the year 2001. Her casting was severely criticized but with her performance she proved what she is capable of. In 2003, she won her first Oscars for supporting actress role in the film Cold Mountain. Since then, she never looked back and gave hits after hits in Cinderella Man, Leatherheads, and Case 39 among others. After the release of My Own Love Song in the year 2010, she took a break. She returned to silver screen 6 years later with the film titled The Whole Truth in 2016. She played the role of Judy Garland in her biographical film and ended up winning her 2nd Oscar award. In addition to films, she has also starred in some television series as well. She played the lead role in the American thriller web series What/If in the year 2019.
