Born as Oscar Gutierrez, Rey Mysterio is a well-known professional wrestler from America. He made his professional debut at the age of 14. Initially, he was trained by his uncle, who later gave him the ring name of Rey Mysterio Jr. He had learned his trademark Lucha Libre style. For a couple of years, he was wrestling at Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion. Later, he signed a contract for Extreme Championship Wrestling. Further 1996, he made his debut in World Championship Wrestling. He won his first Cruiserweight Championship in July 1996 by defeating Dean Malenko.
He was involved in several feuds and won several titles. He was also unmasked in 1999. Later, he was involved in No Limit Soldiers and Filthy Animals. After WCW was shut down, he signed into Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. He also traveled to Puerto Rico to take part in World Wrestling Council. In 2002, he signed into World Wrestling Entertainment, where he put on his mask again. He debuted WWE in an episode of SmackDown! against Chavo Guerrero in July 2002. He won his first Cruiserweight Championship in WWE after defeating Matt Hardy. He quit WWE after his contract ended in February 2015. He then re-signed to AAA. He is also very active in Lucha Underground since 2015. He has won several titles and championships in his career including WWE Championship.
A documentary titled, Rey Mysterio: 619 was released in 2003. WWE also had released a compilation of his best matches in Rey Mysterio: The Biggest Little Man in 2007.
