Shane Long is an Irish professional football player who was born on January 22, 1987 in Gortnahoe, the Republic of Ireland with the original name Shane Patrick Long.

He skillfully plays as a striker for the Premier League team – West Bromwich Albion and National Football Team – Republic of Ireland. Long was called for the first time to play in the team Squad for the 2005 season. Later, in the Reading Champion 2005 – 2006 campaign, Long attained 3 goals in 10 consecutive appearances. This gave him a star value and was recognized both nationally as well as internationally. Due to his outstanding performance, Long was asked to sign a contract of 4 years with Readings.  
 
In the year 2001, Shane made his debut in the league opener against Manchester. However, he was given a man of the match in 2011. Due to his extreme talents, he was nominated as the young player of the year 2007 by the Football Association of Ireland.
